Beaver Scouts (age 6 to 8)

Beaver Colony (Wednesday evenings)

Our Beaver Colony meets on a Wednesday evening between 6pm and 7pm. The Beaver Leader is, Ikki, Jane Atkinson. If you want to find out more about the Beaver Colony please contact Jane at beavers@6thcramlingtonscouts.org.uk.

Balanced Programme

Beaver Scouts take part in a balanced programme which is split into six different programme zones (beliefs and attitudes; community; fitness; creative; global; and outdoor and adventure). The programme is delivered using twelve different methods. Over a period of time Beavers will take part in activities which cover all of the zones and make use of all of the different methods.

When a young person joins the Beaver Colony he or she will start by working towards the Beaver Scout Membership Award. This involves learning about the Colony and understanding the Beaver Scout Promise. The young person will also find out about Scouting more generally and will learn about the Scout Motto, Sign and Handshake. He or she will usually attend at least four meetings before being invested as a Beaver Scout.

After Beavers have been invested they can start working towards the six Challenge Awards which complement the balanced programme. If a Beaver completes all six Challenges they earn the Chief Scout's Bronze Award, the highest award available to Beaver Scouts.

Beaver Scouts can also work towards twelve different activity badges and six different staged activity badges as well as three awards in association with other sections in the Group.

Beavers can also earn Joining In Badges to show how long they have been a part of the Scout Movement and a Moving On Award when they continue to Cub Scouts.
